After running chat server you can test your applet by opening "http://<your-host-name>/glassroom/index.html" in your browser. If you installed the software properly you will have a page with a single button : "Start Chat". Push this button, then a new page will be opened. The applet is embedded in this page. Wait a minute till applet initiate. Then you will see a dialog box asking you for your nick name. If you have problem in this stage check your browser for supporting Java applet and check if this enabled. After this, you can enter a nick name, wait for a minute, applet frame must be shown else your chat server is not running properly. In this case you can check "Connections log"  and "Errors and events log" to inspect the problem.
